To avoid getting ripped off it is recommended that you go with a more established website designer that has a good track record already established.

Make sure that they have already done websites for people that are in the same business that you are in and ask if you can take a look at these websites. Don’t hand them the entire fee up front, because any reputable website designer will only ask for their payment in two or three installments.

Don’t look for the cheapest one, because if you do that you may be stuck with end results that you are less than satisfied with, so try to balance the price you pay with the quality that you will accept. Remember that your website will represent you on the internet and potential clients or customers are going to judge you by your website, so you will want to have the best website possible. Make it clear with the website designer that you want to see some of the design work as it progresses or you may get an unwelcome surprise when you finally see the finished product.
