Building a web business is a lot like dating. In fact, I can’t think of a better analogy. I’ve had my face slapped so many times trying to get a kiss, I look like the south end of a lobster going north. I should have never listen to that sales guy who said “you’re going to to get your face slapped a lot if you want to get a lot of kisses, because sales like dating is just a numbers game”.
Well that’s bull cookies and I don’t like pain that much. Besides that was probably written by one ugly, foul smelling, toothless, bugger eatin, idiot who couldn’t get a date with Hillary Clinton (or any other ugly woman) if he tried.
Call me old fashioned, but most women I know like to be taken out to dinner, a movie, or dancing. They like to talk. They want you to listen and they like to think of a relationship as a partnership and they wanted to be treated with respect. They want long term stuff, not a “one night stand”. They like good intelligent conversation. They like to feel like they count and that they are the only one that can make you happier than a termite in a wood factory.
If you are real real lucky, you might get a kiss on that first date. If you did your job, you might even be able to hold her hand, but I doubt it. If you have a lick of sense, you won’t do either until she gets to know you and if you are real bright, you’ll tell her that her hair or earrings look nice instead of starring at the neck down.
So how come we expect to sell or get someone to part with their hard earned money on a one page “get the money and run” site? How come we get all upset because we had 300 site visitors today and only one bought?
Did you really think you would score on the first date?
There’s no romance in that!
It’s presumptuous and insulting.
And women don’t think I’ve forgotten about you. Any woman with a lick of sense knows how to get that guy to click to the next page… I mean advertising just enough to make them want more… I mean.. Geez… I’m goin to get in trouble.
Oh well, what do I know… if you like pain, go for it… heck maybe all you want to be with is a street walker tonight.
Until next time…
