Social Media Marketing is the use of social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace, to increase traffic to your sites. It is one of the most effective ways to get FREE traffic to your sites. You do know how important website traffic is to the survival of your online business.
Even though using social sites to drive traffic to a website is a technique that requires no money, you have to be really careful that you don’t get banned. Social sites don’t like spammers and marketers who are continually making their sale pitches to the members of the sites.
The important factor behind the utilization of Social Media sites is that you must provide great quality contents tha tare useful and entertaining to others so that your readers will want to share your contents with the rest of the community members.
When your contents are read by lots of people, valuable back links to your website are created. The more value you provide to the community members, the more they will help you in return.
Using these Social Media sites the correct way can bring in huge traffic very quickly to your sites. NOT using them correctly can KILL your business.
There are three types of Social Media Sites:
1. Community type-These are sites where people go on a regular basis and hang out. They share their personal profiles and leave comments on their friends’ pages. Examples of such sites are MySpace and FaceBook.
2. Library type-These are sites like Technoratti and Digg which provide collection of information provided by their users.
3. Notice-Boards type-Place like Blog provides people with information on a regular basis. Place like twitter is where you go to leave short messages on a regular basis.
So how do you go about using these social sites?
You start out by signing up at these social sites and leaving your personal profiles. You need to be aware of their term of services. You need to know what can and can’t be done at these sites. Spend some time watching the behavior of the people who hang out at these sites. Observe what they do and replicate their process.
Let’s say that you sign up to Facebook, you will need to add your profile and upload you photos. You can import you email address lists and find contacts that are part of the Facebook community.
You will then invite people to be your friend. After they accept your invitation, you will then be able to communicate with them by posting messages on their “Walls”.
Invite as many friends as possible. But if you think that once you have a couple hundred of friends then you can start pitching to them; you are dead wrong. This is a BAD idea. How would you feel if you received a friend invite one day, and once you accept, you immediately get bombarded with offers from this person right away?
Wouldn’t you be annoyed and ban this person from ever being able to communicate with you in the future? You might even be mad and complain to Facebook staff. If Facebook believes that you are spamming, you will be removed from the site.
The trick is to spend a good amount of time in ALL of the social sites, observe and then do what the other members are doing. You can slowly submit some great quality content to these sites slowly.
If you don’t want to be spending too much time on the social sites trying to get traffic, not know knowing how to go about doing it the right way, you need to get you hands on “Social Traffic Explosion”.
