The major players that index search results are Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Determining an SEO strategy is very important if you presently have a website, or you are thinking of creating one. Keep in mind, the whole business of having a blog or website is for the traffic it will create. This should be the same philosophy, whether your website or blog is for fun or profit.
Organic (algorithmic) search engine results are a by-product of the quality of your website content. If you are rotating the content, and bringing in new fresh articles on a periodic basis, the search engine algorithms (especially Google) will index your site for a keyword, or keyword phrase, and eventually allow you to rank well for particular search terms. The design of your blog or website is critical as well. Make sure you are familiar with the software packages that allow search engine spiders to index your site with little difficulty. Not all designers are aware of good SEO website design, and you can end up spending a lot of money for very little website traffic in return.
The links coming into your website are important, and will define how well your site is ranked. Keep in mind, the number of inbound links is not as important as the quality of those links. The links connecting to your website should have relevant content, not just be any other website. Otherwise you will be dinged, and your search rankings will be lowered in the SEO game. There are always going to be those entities that will claim to build your online presence up over night. On a personal note, each website owner has to understand how the Google algorithm “thinks”. Like everything in the world, overnight success is usually “suspect”. Your website presence has to go through a stage of growth that falls within the parameters of the norm.
Content is king! You will hear this again and again, but it can never be stressed enough. However, it has to be the right kind of content. When starting out, or even if you are a seasoned pro, you must come to the realization that content has to be both informative and engaging. And, it has to focus on a keyword or keyword phrase that is relevant to your products. It is also important to focus on the keywords that are high in KEI indexing. These are the keywords that people use to search, but are rarely in much website content. These are the keywords that can eventually rank your website high with the major search engines, and give you a marketing niche. SEO is very important, and dictates the success of almost every website. Learn it, and master the game!
