After a while I came to realize that very few people do the keyword finding on their own. Most successful people use some sort of software or something.

Seeing what your competitors are doing is very important. If you know what they are doing you know how to be better then them. If you can beat out your competition then you are just battling with yourself to get better and make more money. The more traffic you get the more money you make. So if you feel like you can do all this on your own great. If not I would advise you to get some sort of software. It is well worth it.
