Article directories are an area or venue to expose writers to targeted audiences. These websites contains tons and tons of articles written for several purposes generally categorized under topics. The thousands of customers who will chance upon these articles will get to know the writers and they will be able to track the articles to the writer’s own website. The writer’s website may be just about anything and any business. If a customer reads an article and gets information that builds the credibility of the writer, the customer is most likely to go to the writer’s website and make a purchase—say, a software, or a service for training dogs, etc.

There are several guidelines regarding author submission for article directories. The things mentioned in the succeeding paragraphs are just the basics. Read on and learn.

First off, originality is never an option, it is a creed and a standard. Any writer who plagiarizes his work is not worthy of any credibility and integrity at all. Anyone will never purchase from someone who has not integrity. Period.

Second thing to take note in author submission is that most article directories do not want back links for affiliate programs. Affiliate programs are like advertisements. This means writers should not include any website URL within the articles that promotes the websites content. This is wrong since it is like manipulating the entire system. The purpose of writing articles for article directories is to make the readers trust you. This is not a venue to write a review for a website and consequently sell it to your audience. Also, keep in mind that when an article is submitted, it should be submitted in only one category. If the article is about training, then it should be submitted under Pets, not under Automobiles or Computers and Technology.

Third, follow general instructions in word count and others. Nobody wants to write novels. All article directories are also websites that have bandwidth. Also, you are not the only writer for them. So keep the words to a minimum as specified in their instructions. Also, many article directories have specific rules in the usage of capital letters. There are also rules in the number of characters in the title, the body, and the summary or description of the article.

Guidelines are also very specific regarding the usage of HTML. And one more thing, some directories are also evidently against keyword spamming. In the average, many directories only allow maximum of 20 related keywords to the subject matter. Any keyword in excess and not related to the topic will be removed.

Fourth, it is not necessary to be told that correctness of grammar is to be used at all times. Unless, of course, if the writer deliberately tweaks the language for the purposes of entertainment and creativity.

Now that you are empowered to do this, please take the time to review the rules again. Keep these general author submission rule and review the guidelines in each article directory carefully before you submit your work. A written article that does not get published is not really worth your effort.

Submit articles to the article directory owned by Ahmed or read articles and on your favorite topic. He runs many more sites full of information.
