Step 1 — Do a Search

Using Google, Yahoo, or your favorite search engine, check out a niche and determine the competition of advertisement. If you search, for example, real estate investing, the search results, along with the amount of sponsored advertisements on the side of the search results page, will help you determine if the niche is worth pursuing. The larger the number of sponsored advertisements there are on the side, the more competitive and more demanding the products are. This way, you are selling products that are in high demand and your chances of success are greater.

Step 2 — Use Directories

Using directories on the Internet such as DMOZ.org allows you to search for forums or blogs focused on your niche. Do a search and browse through the Resources section. This will give you a list of forums and blogs that have been submitted to the directory for your niche.

Step 3 — Hunt for Products

There are a couple of good ways to find products for potential niche sites that you’ve identified as worthy of pursuing. The first is to search in your favorite search engine again, by typing the string “niche”+”affiliate product” or “niche”+”affiliate opportunities”. Depending on the viability of your niche, your results will vary. The second method is to visit Clickbank.com. By clicking on Marketplace, you can search your niche and a listing of all related affiliate products will be displayed. Every one of the products contains a link to the merchant’s website, along with the price, and the total commissions that affiliates get for every sale. And one of the most valuable pieces of information is the Gravity Score. A high score indicates that the product provides a high commission and a high conversion rate. If you are not familiar with this term, conversion rate is when a potential prospect actually visits the merchant’s website and purchases the product.
