It can be very hard to get noticed on the internet depending on what your company does. Obviously the more popular the type of business you run, the harder it is to compete on the internet. Here are a few things to avoid.

Using trademarked keywords in domain names is illegal and can cost a company its license. Applying someone else’s trademarked name to attract web surfers violates the federal trademark law, which prohibits the use of someone else’s trademark, if it causes a “likelihood of confusion” among consumers. Judges are smart and unless you made an honest mistake they will sniff out your scheme and pleading not guilty will only lead to higher penalties. There are examples of this case when Yahoo sued websites with similar names like DCYahoo.com and AtlantaYahoo.com

Using keywords in meta tags can also be dangerous. For example if a local printing company uses the word Kinko’s in their search engine search tags they can be sued because they are not affiliated with Kinko’s the printing company. Although it is not against the law, yet, companies have sued over it. It all depends on why and how you are using the tags. If the courts deem that you are using them in s deceptive manner than you will probably lose the lawsuit. There have been cases that the defendant proved that they had a legitimate reason as to why they used the trademarked word in the meta tags.

Deep linking is another tactic used to higher a websites ranking. This is less controversial than the others but your can still be sued in court but there are not as many deep linking cases. It is the practice of making a hyperlink that runs to a specific page or image on another website, instead of that website’s main or home page. They are called deep links. Recently a Texas court found that it “does not constitute fair use” and ordered an injunction.

If by chance you considering using these dirty tactics be careful because you get yourself into serious trouble. If your case happens to go public and the media picks it up your company will draw bad press because the networks are most likely to side with big corporations.

The main misunderstanding from the public eye and press, causes this general misconception around many famous network marketing companies.

2. False expectations for too early results with too little effort.

Depending on the way in which the business is presented, one can get the impression that there is not much effort involved. So if you only get a couple, who can then get a couple each you’ll be rich. When early recruits realize that considerable networking and marketing is involved in Network Marketing, disappointment quickly sets in. There is work involved, and any business that presents a plan to you and says that you don’t have to do anything is peddling a lie. All successful network marketers worked for their success.

4. Failure to work an easy to duplicate recruiting plan.

With the advent of the Internet and all the new communication means that it affords, Network Marketing has come a long way from the home meetings and house to house presentations. Doing these presentations was very intimidating to many people and so the recruiting chain often broke along the way. The key here is that if the recruiting machine does not have a system that anyone can comfortably do, it will come to a screeching halt. The basis of a great training program is it’s ability to be duplicated, good trainers know this. If the impression is given that a recruit must be turned into an instant public speaker, giving motivational speeches at the local Hilton, they can be easily scared off.

Synchonously you need to learn about your system so you can be familiarized with your comapany so you can tell others about it’s benefit. As a user yourself, this should not be difficult. A caution here is to work the system that has been field tested, rather than trying to invent your own methods. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be innovative, but there is no use to reinvent the wheel either, so be teachable.

5. Hand-holding down line members.

Teaching is surely a part of the game of building a strong team. Some marketers make the mistake of doing too much for their down line members thinking that if they didn’t their recruits will leave. This can flip back however, because there is often too much reliance on uplines and not enough on developing well enough to grow and support their own business. There is only so much you can do for someone and no more. These spoiled over-dependent down line members can become a liability instead of an asset to your team. So avoid the temptation to micromanage your team; you’ll get burnt out. Teach your team members to fish instead of fishing for them.

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest cash producing systems there are in the world. But some people lack the fundamentals of affiliate marketing.

Chances are darn good that you are at least making 1 of the 3 mistakes I’m about to list here. If you find yourself making one or all of them, fix it…seeing that they can cost you a lot of lost commissions.

Mistake #1 - The “Get Rich Quick Scheme” Mindset

If you are thinking that you can get rich overnight or within a few days simply because some other guru told you it’s possible, you are in for a serious shock. I have been in this industry for just more than 2 years. It might not be that long compared to others, but one thing that I did learn is that there is no such thing as “getting rich quick”.

Those programs are bogus so never ever follow them. If a guru tells you that you can make money online with his program, but doesn’t claim how long…then there are more legitimacy to it. Those people who tell you “make $1000 in 24 hours” are all scammers. I tried it all and all of them failed.

So stop thinking “quick” and start thinking “long term profit”. You are suppose to build yourself an affiliate marketing BUSINESS that can generate thousands.

Mistake #2 - Not building a subscriber base.

Most affiliates simply slap up a website and think they are going to make thousands. While that can happen if it’s a very good and popular website, one thing that should never be left off the table is a subscriber list.

You need to funnel your website traffic so that they sign up for a free course or e-newsletter and by doing that you get them into your subscriber list. This will enable you to market to them over and over. Not only will this increase your overall profits by a staggering sum, but it will also generate serious repeat traffic as well as loyalty towards your website.

Mistake #3 - Going Loco with your promotion efforts

SO many affiliates make this mistake and they are losing potential thousands of dollars in commissions. What is it? They simply promote too many products on their website! Don’t fall into this trap…ever. When building a website, you are obviously adding content to your site each day. The most important thing is that you concentrate on selling only 1 or 2 products on your site.

Questions to Guide Your Thoughts.

4. What do you want your life, career, family…. To look like in 12 months? In 3 to 5 years? See it, feel it. Believe you will have it.

5. Summarize your personal vision in a couple sentences. Writing your vision on paper is critical.

Congratulations! This is your personal vision, a more clear picture of what you desire for your future. You become more confident because you have a purpose, a goal, a better place you want to be. You can now develop a plan for the journey to get there. We’ll talk about that in the next chat.

Keep Your Vision Close to Your Heart Every Day, Many Times Each Day

One last important thing! Make copies of your written or typed personal vision, place it in many places so you see it several times every day….bathroom mirror, kitchen sink, by your bed, on table next to your favorite chair, in the car. Read and reflect on your personal vision often, so it becomes embedded in your thoughts, in your heart, you feel strong desire to accomplish it.

Remember, what you think about most often you create in your life!
