“I’m writing lots of free content for my website, but still nobody comes. What can I do?”

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 4:11 pm

by Miles Galliford
Having launched more than 100 specialist content websites for clients over the last six months, I often get asked this question. My answer is always twofold.

Over the long term, which I suggest is 12 to 24 months, good-quality, highly focused and regularly updated content websites will triumph.

Google and the search engines are getting far better at separating the wheat from the chaff. They are 100% focused on finding the best content for each particular search request.

Once the search engines have visited your site and made an initial positive assessment, they will keep coming back and re-indexing your content. The more content you publish, the more frequently they will return. The more they like what they see, the higher they will rank you on the search results pages. The higher up the results list you appear, the more people will see your links and click on them. Hopefully, some of these visitors like what they read so much that they link to it from their websites or blogs. These inbound links from other sites are seen as positive endorsements of your content by the search engines, which respond by improving your site’s position on the search results pages.

And so the virtuous circle goes on and the traffic to your website increases.

The moral of this story is: keep publishing great content and don’t give up just because you don’t see instant results.

But this all takes time.

What can you do if you want to increase the number of visitors coming to your website?

There is a lot you can do. In fact, if you undertook all the activities that could build traffic, you would have no time to create content.

So where should you focus your early marketing efforts to get the greatest long-term benefits?

The answer is to build your presence, reputation and authority with your target audience so that you have a firm foundation of loyal and supportive readers who will help spread the word about you and your site.

To achieve this goal in the shortest possible time, you should focus on the handful of people in your market who can make a big difference. They will be characterized in the following ways:

1. They have a relevant audience of their own, probably via their own website or blog.

2. They have a good reputation for being authorities in your sector.

3. They are interested in what you write about.

4. They have shown they are happy to provide links from their site to other websites.

These are the people you need to engage with, so they will talk about you and what you have to say. If you are mentioned in articles written by perceived experts, you become endorsed as an expert yourself. This will bring targeted and relevant traffic to your website and will start building a loyal audience.

So how do you work with these very busy people who are continually being pestered for endorsements?

Here are some good ideas:

1. Get on the Radar - The best way to get on another blogger’s radar is to get him or her to see you as a useful and helpful ally. Most bloggers’ sites allow people to add comments after articles. The quality of these comments improves the site and turns it into a community. To get noticed, you should regularly add good-quality, well-thought-out comments on all the sites you want to work with.

2. Link to Their Blogs or Websites - Every successful blogger or website owner knows the importance of inbound links, so show your support by providing links to those sites, referring to specific articles (with links) and talking about them in comments and forums on other people’s websites.

3. Get in Contact - Once you have established yourself as a supporter, it is time to get in touch directly. But a word of warning; DON’T go straight in with a request for a link to your website. This will undo all the good work you have done so far. First you need to build a personal relationship, so think about how you can help the person be more successful. Here are some approaches that I know have worked:

a. Ask if you can do an interview, which you will publish on your site. Better still, make it a podcast that you publish on iTunes and similar sites.

b. Offer to write an article about a subject you know is highly relevant to that person’s audience for exclusive publication on his or her website. Try to become a regular guest writer.

c. Ask if you can republish on your website a specific article he or she has written.

d. If you have written an ebook, invite the person to be an official reviewer.

e. Ask him or her to comment on a particular article on your site that is relevant to something he or she has previously said.

4. Meet in Person - Nothing beats meeting in person to cement a relationship. Arranging to meet is usually best achieved at industry events, unless you are fortunate enough to live near the person.

5. Encourage Community on Your Website - Once you have engaged with all the key influencers in your sector, your ultimate goal is for them to start visiting your website regularly to see what you are writing about. When they visit, you ideally want them to leave comments or participate in your forum. For this to happen, you need to have created a community where you are visible and active.

Summary

Engaging with and being recognized by the key online movers and shakers in your niche is one of the fastest ways to build a core audience and credibility. Do everything you can to help these people become successful, and you will reap the rewards. Remember, to have friends you’ve got to be a friend!

Three Ways To Kill Your Business With Email

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 4:11 pm

by John W Gottshall
After you’re spent countless hours building your e-mail lists you probably feel you are ready to use them to produce income. You’ve worked hard developing a marketing campaign, creating a squeeze page to funnel subscribers into your email lists and you are ready to sell to your subscribers. Before you begin, let me give you some advice on how not to make the three most common errors than can destroy your lists.

Tip #1 - One way to destroy your contact list is to push the product you are selling onto them constantly. E-mail lists are for pre-selling the promoted item, not for the selling itself. There is a subtle but definitive difference which can be hard to understand. The e-mail list is for getting people interested in the product and informed about it, the link to the sales page is the part that sells the item.

Tip #2 - Hyping every aspect of the product that you are promoting is another great way to kill your e-mail lists. Too much hype just sounds fake or can make the product seem like it’s too good to be true and we all know that if that is how something sounds then it is too good to be true. Whenever you are informing your e-mail list about the product you’re selling you want to build their interest in the product and you can do that by expressing genuine sincerity and enthusiasm for the product. Tell about how it’s saved you time or how it’s saved you money and be truthful with your claims. You’ll find truth to be much more effective than hype every time.

Tip #3 - Grammar, grammar, grammar! Probably the best way to kill your list is to simply make it unreadable. For God’s sake, use a spellchecker or at least have someone proofread your emails before you send them out to your list. Lord knows that I’ve received hundreds of emails from proclaimed top internet marketing ‘gurus’ and they were just too irritating to read. Spend some time getting your message across properly and it will repay you one hundred times over.

Ultimately, you want your list to thrive and grow each and every day.

What Will It Take To Achieve Profits Online

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 3:11 pm

by Gianfranco Focarelli
When we decide to start an Internet marketing business we all have reasons for doing so. For most people that is the opportunity to make more money. In this article we want to take a look at how you can make money online and see if we can answer the question is it really possible to achieve profits online.

To achieve profits several things have to happen. First of all you need to offer a quality product that people have a need for and an interest in. Fortunately this is not hard to do because the Internet is full of home business opportunities in various different type of industries including network marketing and affiliate marketing. These provide you with a product, a website, marketing materials, and everything you really need to be successful.

So why aren’t more people successful in achieving online profits? The unknown factor in Internet marketing is how to get traffic to a website or a blog. This is number one stumbling point that people are never able to master. Ultimately it ends up putting them out of business before they ever make any money.

What happens is they begin to spend money promoting their product and their website when they really do not know what they’re spending their money on. They join a newsletter, and read an article where someone is talking about promoting via Google ad words. Google ad words certainly is an excellent way to advertise, but it is also one of the quickest ways to lose money on the Internet and lose a lot of money if you don’t understand what you’re doing.

This is just one example of what a person would do to lose money. Another example would be when they see an ad that says get 10,000 visitors to your website for $29. So they spent $29 and the quality of the traffic if it is delivered at all is not very good.

The main point I want to get across in this article is for you to achieve profits online you’re going to have to be able to budget according to the amount of business you are getting. Or you’re going to have to get good at as many free forms of advertising as you can.

When we look at forms of advertising and promotion on the Internet we are looking at things like:

- article marketing

- blogging

- e-mail marketing

- social bookmarking

- and so on.

The key to achieving online profits is to master one form of these advertising and marketing methods before you move on to another.

There are many things that go into to achieving profits online. Hopefully this article will help you to understand that one of the most important things is to control your costs. Then learn as many free or nearly free ways of advertising and promotion as possible.

The Math of Relying on a Virtual Assistant

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 3:11 pm

by Althea Tan
Many business owners want to look at the reliability of a virtual assistant before entering into a working contract with them. By conducting a sort of job interview, business owners who are interested in hiring virtual assistants can assess the competency of their new hires. They want to make sure that the qualifications of the virtual assistant are available and that they would be able to do the job that are required for them to do.

A virtual assistant’s reliability can be identified in many different ways. There are no standards for a virtual assistant. One way of measuring the assistant’s reliability is your confidence and belief in their capability and skills to do the work efficiently and according to the standards that you expect from them. Knowing that the assistant’s goals are in alignment with yours must also be considered. You should also look for an easy personality for a business relationship to prosper. It will not help you to get a virtual assistant that is hard to get along with.

Outside of this, there are many possibilities for assessing the reliability of a virtual assistant. One of the growing trends to gauge the credentials of virtual assistants is the certification program. Although it is not a requirement, this certification allows virtual assistants to acquire the knowledge that they need to broaden their knowledge and add to their skills. Others gain the credibility that they need when they go to school to study courses, which are related to the job that they need to do, like computer programming or marketing.

Virtual assistants can also join and be part of the Virtual Assistant Chamber of Commerce as a member. There are also a number of national or international associations that a virtual assistant can be affiliated with. All these memberships will help you see that they are serious about their jobs and that they are reliable enough to hire.

Another way of determining the reliability of a virtual assistant is by looking into the years of experience that they have. Having at least a couple of years experience in the field of work that you need them in will ensure that the job will run smoothly. This will be a type of assurance for you that they will know what to do once you give them the job. Unless you have previously worked with the particular virtual assistant, it is best that you hire someone with experience.

Building the reputation of your business is hard and it leaves a lasting impression on your clients and customers. It is therefore important that you keep it at its best by having the right people to work for you. Hiring virtual assistants with the right credentials is one of the important things you need to consider to help your business grow. With great credentials and some background checking, virtual assistants can be reliable and can be an asset to your company.

Global Domains International Scam Or Money Making Opportunities MLM

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 3:11 pm

by Nutu Dan
The GDI system actually combines multi - level - marketing (network marketing) with internet marketing which I think is pure genius. Robert Allen of “Multiple Streams of Income” actually stated in his book that “network marketing” and “internet marketing” are two profitable and easy streams of income. Now Global Domains International actually combined these two streams into one allowing members to participate in network marketing with internet marketing on complete automation.

The beauty of the GDI system is that there is actually no selling on your part. The video presentations they provided are pursuasive enough, in other words, the videos will actually sell for you. All you need to do is just sending the emails provided to close friends, relatives, or even in forums to direct people to watch the videos.

And best thing of all, it is the cheapest network marketing and internet marketing business venture you can ever find with potential highest return on investment. You can check out using the calculator provided in the main GDI website. According to calculations, if you can find 5 people and the 5 people in turn finds 5 people, you have a potential earnings of $3.905 per month! Now that’s the power of network marketing and I am sure you will agree that with an investment of only $10 a month, you will never find another income opportunity with this kind of low risk and high returns.

Now, will the product sells? We know that the internet has become an important part of our lives, and I cant stress enough that in time (maximum 5 years from now) we all need a domain name, a website and a personal email address. With dot coms all running out, the only good alternative is dot WS (WS stands for website). The videos explain really well.

Ok, so is Global Domains International a Scam?

Would you call Amway, Nu Skin and all the multi level companies out there a scam? These companies including Global Domains International are built on the same business model - network marketing. The only difference of GDI is that it is cheaper and easier to start with as the system are all on automation over the internet. When you pay your subscription of $10 a month to GDI, you also get a domain name, a website, site builder, email addresses not to mention the income opportunity system and the advance email systems they provide you to manage your downlines.

Some, may argue that you can get domains at $8.95 a year and hosting for $3.95 a month. But do not forget that you are not provided with a residual income building opportunity that pays you every month. Hey, you may also wonder, GDI only pays $1 per signups, that’s really too little for your effort, but dont forget you are paid 5 levels! Try out the potential income with the calculator provided at the bottom page of GDI main website You only need 10 signups in any of the 5 levels to break even!

Oh by the way, you are also given 4 ready made websites with your name already embedded to start your GDI business. How easy is that! You dont even need to learn a single HTML to start with!

In conclusion, is Global Domain International Scam?
Nope!
One word of advice though, like every domain companies, GDI will try to upsell you more domains at $10 each which you do not need as you can domains as cheap as $6.95. Just pay $10 for the system and you should do fine.
You have to watch the really cool video and see for yourself, you are also entitled to a 7 day FREE Trial!

Affiliate Marketing - Earning Money Online With Affiliate Marketing

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 3:11 pm

by AK
I bet you know that earning money online with affiliate marketing is possible. Well, needless to say, it is not only possible occasionally but many people have adopted this business to earn their living. I was searching for the truth of earning money online months ago with hesitation, but I now I believe that affiliate marketing is a good source of passive income to whomever dare to pursue this online business.

You do know that affiliate marketing will not make you a millionaire overnight, I mean it is not a get-rich-quick scheme like what some of the internet marketing gurus have promised involving their purpose behind those promises, which is to sell you as many of their products as possible. You need determination and never-give-up attitude. It is a process of learning and earning. Internet marketing evolves as information technology does, it happens to affiliate marketing as well.

Beginners, however, are advised not to buy anything about affiliate marketing yet, before they know what it really is. There is ton of information about affiliate marketing you can get for free on the net. I recalled what I have read about internet marketing, the professional said that one has to consider internet marketing (affiliate marketing included) as his/her own business. That is absolutely true. One, who never takes affiliate marketing seriously, shall not succeed.

Getting started it the most difficult part in this business. You need to know what you have to do, which step you have to take first before you can really promote a product from the merchant you are partnering with. Three major steps such as finding a niche, market research, and keyword research are essential to starting the business.

What could have been more tempting to start this business is that it involves low-risk advertising and high ROI (return on investment). However, you need to invest your time to learn and implement what you learn.
Most affiliate marketers failed, but the successful ones are they, who never give up; to them failure is not an excuse to quit.

Starting and learning alone is possible, however it takes a long time before you can really start your own campaign. That is why there are a lot of people offering their help for a certain price each month. Getting help from other, who have had a lot of experience in this business, is very much advised because it can help you move faster and earn earlier.

I, personally, have myself coached in an affiliate marketing university called wealthy affiliate, which is much recommended. Visit my Blog at earning money online with affiliate marketing and Grab Your FREE gift.

Are Moneymaking Ebooks Get Rich Quick Scams?

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 3:11 pm

by essmeier
There are a lot of people who are interested in finding ways to make money on the Internet. A search for “make money” on Google returns some four and a half million results. Clearly, there is a need for information on making money, and no shortage of people who are willing to provide it. Much of that information is offered in the form of an electronic book, or ebook. For a price, authors are willing to share their information about making money via downloadable reading material. That would seem to be a good thing, and yet many people dismiss such books as being nothing more than “get rich quick” scams. Is there any truth to that?

In years past, a lot of unscrupulous individuals took advantage of readers of magazines by taking out full-page advertisements touting their “rags to riches” success stories. The typical ad would describe some individual who was out of a job, on the verge of bankruptcy and without hope, who suddenly found a “secret” of making a lot of money. The ad then went on to describe how rich that individual has become as a result of the “secret” and then offered that “secret” for sale to anyone who sent a check to the Post Office box indicated in the ad. These ads were effective, but those who sent in money were often disappointed to see that the “secret” often consisted of nothing more than a letter that said “take out ads and sell this letter.” Clearly, these ads were scams.

While many sales pages for today’s ebooks vaguely resemble the ads of yesteryear, many of the products themselves are legitimate. True, the advertisements will tout the effectiveness of the information offered, and statements like “Make $5000 in one week!” are not uncommon. Hyperbole aside, many of these books do have legitmate information to offer. The online publisher Clickbank offers tens of thousands of such books for sale, and their sales policies require a 56 day, “no questions asked” refund policy. That policy tends to weed out the scams pretty quickly, especially since Clickbank reviews every book prior to publication.

Are all ebooks, particularly those offered for sale though Clickbank, equally good? Of course not. Some will be better than others, and few, if any, of them will offer information that will lead to the sorts of income suggested on their sales pages. Most of them, however, will offer at least some useful information about making money online. In the end, you are more likely to buy a book that will let you make a little bit of money than you are to buy a book that is an outright scam.

If you are in doubt as to whether or not a particular ebook may be of value, you might wish to search the Internet for reviews. There are many sites on the Web that review moneymaking ebooks, and a bit of time spent on such sites may be worth your while. You might also make a point of purchasing books that are offered for sale though Clickbank, as you will have the additional protection of being able to receive a refund should the book not be up to your expectations.

Making Millions With Your Own Ebook

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 2:11 pm

by Jo Mark
It has become very popular, not to mention profitable, to write ebooks. It seems as though everyone with a computer is doing it. Many would tell you that the key to a successful ebook is in finding buyers. I prefer to say that the key to a successful ebook is in finding sellers. To be really successful writing ebooks, you need an army of willing affiliates making sales for, and with, you. A good affiliate program is what you need to make really big money.

Can you make a million dollars on an ebook without using an affiliate program? Well, let’s look at the numbers. We’ll assume that the useful sales life of an ebook is two years. That works out to 730 days. If your ebook is selling for $24.95, you’d need to sell 40, 080 ebooks to reach the million dollar level. That works out to 55 ebooks each and every DAY for two full years! Many ebooks sell less than that in a month. To be honest, many authors don’t sell that many ebooks in an entire YEAR! But, can you make a million dollars with one ebook? Yes, it is certainly possible, but not very likely.

There is no single key factor to be successful selling ebooks. But rather, a series of items contribute to an ebook’s success. Following are four primary factors that determine your ebook’s prospects for success.

1. Many experts say that you should write about something that interests you. I say nonsense! To have a successful ebook, you’ve got to write about topics that OTHER people (your buyers) are interested in. You must do your research before beginning your ebook. Find out what people are searching for. Learn what people want. Lurk around in numerous forums and take note of the questions that are asked time and again. This can be very productive. If you see that many people are asking the same question, you may have found a profitable ebook topic. There are many methods you can use to find out which subjects are selling well. My ebook, for one, has an excellent section on how to find hot selling topics.

2. Books that solve problems typically sell better than those that merely provide information. For instance, an ebook entitled “The Causes of Bad Breath” would probably not be a big seller. However, “How to Cure Bad Breath” would most likely do much better even though both ebooks would contain very similar information. Target you ebook to solve a problem for people.

3. Develop a catchy, descriptive title that attracts buyers. In the example above, I assure you that people with bad breath are not lying awake at night wondering what caused their bad breath. They couldn’t care what caused it. They want a cure! And if the title of your ebook indicates that it contains that cure, you probably made a sale!

4. Develop your own affiliate program. Why do you think that all of the most successful Guru’s have affiliate programs? It is not because they like to spread the wealth among their fellow Internet marketers. It’s because an affiliate program can increase profits exponentially! Do what they do and start your own affiliate program.

Good luck with your ebook, I hope you make two million dollars! That’s only 80,160 ebooks, get busy!

Search Engine Optimization: Black Hat Vs White Hat SEO

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 2:11 pm

by Stacey Crevoiserat - NewSunGraphics
Search Engine Optimization, or SEO as it’s more commonly referred to, can be divided into two groups. The White Hats, and the Black Hats. These two groups represent two opposing methods used to optimize websites. The showdown between the White Hats and the Black Hats is heating up, and as always, the search engines are backing the White Hats!

What’s The Difference?

These two groups oppose each other, they disagree on effective website methods and use totally opposite tactics.

White Hats: are designers who play by the rules and follow guidelines on how to optimize their sites. They seek long term successful results rather than instant under the table success. Their tactics include ethical marketing strategies to increase the website’s relevance without compromising the content. White Hats consider how search algorithms work and what people are searching for when they optimize a website. Their site’s posses clean cut and well structured source codes, they add unique and relevant content, and legitimate trustworthy inbound links. The sites are also designed so search engines can easily index and spider them. White Hats are opposed to the abuse of computer systems and the use of unethical method and they are usually equally as skilled as the Black Hats.

Black Hats: practice a “show me the results right now” array of tactics. Uninterested in the slow ethical methods that yield long term success, Black Hats use tactics that give instant success. These methods are often unethical and result in search engines removing their listings as punishment. Some of their tactics include link farms, keyword stuffing and hidden text. A link farm is any group of web sites that all link to each other without any regard to quality or relevance. Keyword Stuffing is one of the most popular Black Hat methods. In this method, the website is ‘stuffed’ full of any given keyword; content and readability of the text is severely compromised. The text is often pushed to the bottom of the page and put in a small font, the hope is that the search engine will see the keyword is used many times and rank it well. Hidden Text is a similar method where a keyword is written repeatedly in the same color as the background; this usually gets the site reported by its competitors quickly and results in the site being blacklisted.

The BIG Debate!

Basically everyone has a stance on SEO, everyone fits into one group or the other. Here are a few points made in the White Hat vs Black Hat SEO Debates.

• All Publicity Is Good Publicity? Black Hats argue that no matter what attention you are getting, the attention itself is what you’re striving for. Sure, maybe people have noticed you because you’re being chastised for being unethical but at least they noticed you! While White Hats feel that breaking several rules isn’t worth turning a few heads. The risks are great and will not build long term success.

• Dedication And Hard Work Pay Off! Get Rich Quick scams have never spelled success. And White Hats know it! Working hard now and waiting for the success to come your way will pay off greatly down the road. Do your time, work hard, and your success will be even keeled. The White Hat argues that Black Hat tactics will not stay successful and eventually the Black Hats will have to learn ethical methods, or be out of business. The Black Hats feel that doing the extra work and waiting for success is a nightmare and would rather cut a few corners to have comfortable success in the moment. They argue that spamming tactics will never die, as the search engines evolve so will the methods. This has been proven true, take spam filters for example, they become more advanced all the time, and yet… we are all still getting mail boxes full of spam.

• It’s A Life Style Choice!! The one thing that both White Hats and Black Hats agree on is that it’s a life style decision, one that you probably don’t have to think about to pick a side. You either work harder and be honest, or you happily compromise a few ethics and enjoy your success now.
So, what’s better?

At the end of the day, when you’re talking about your business, you want to stick to what is proven to be successful. We’re not talking about your personal website you use to display your stamp collection; we’re talking about your company, your livelihood, what you base your current lifestyle on. White Hat tactics are proven to be just as successful as Black Hat methods but without the risk of your company site being blacklisted, banned, or deleted from databases. Eventually Black Hat tactics will catch up with you and you’ll regret taking the risk.

Companies like NewSunGraphics (http://www.newsungraphics.com) only use ethical White Hat methods and have been extremely successful with them. Our vision is fairly simple: Do things with honesty and customers will take notice, do things with great integrity and customers will come back with their trust. We make every effort to ensure our clients’ needs are taken care of quickly, efficiently and completely. We want to build professional relationships that last for years.

12 Days of Christmas 2007

Friday 30 November 2007 @ 2:11 pm

by Jeanette Cates
The gifts for the annual 12 Days of Christmas giveaway are being loaded. There is an air of anticipation in the air. After all, this is original multiple contributor giveaway program, originated by Mark Hendricks more than five years ago.

For 12 days in a row you’ll be presented with a growing list of quality internet marketing gifts, designed to help you grow your business. How best to take advantage of this plethora of riches?

Here are ten steps to maximize your investment of time.

1. First, create a new 12days folder to hold all of your goodies. You can create it on the desktop or in your My Documents folder. Just remember where you put it. You’ll be using it a lot in the next few days!

2. Next print the list of gifts. Just use the File, Print command in your browser. You’ll use this list to check off those offers that you have already completed.

3. Now save that same page in your new folder (File, Save as…) You’ll use this in the future when you come back to this folder. It makes it easier and faster to find a specific item again.

4. Now you’re ready to start picking up your gifts. Follow each link. Some will ask you to fill out a short form before you get to the download page. Go ahead and do that. Then download the gifts into your special 12days folder.

5. Many of the newsletters and special offers will ask you to confirm your email address. Do that as the emails arrive. It only takes a minute.

6. Check your junk mail folder once a day for the next week. If your email service doesn’t recognize your new friend’s email address, it may put it into the junk folder. So just open and make sure you’re not missing anything.

7. Over the next couple of weeks you will receive an increased volume of email. If you don’t have time to deal with all of it as it arrives, set up a new folder in your email program and put all of the newsletters into that folder.

8. At least once a day, read one or two of the new subscriptions you’re receiving. There is some *great* information in there, so you’ll definitely want to take advantage of it.

9. Never be afraid to unsubscribe to a series. We are all short of time. If a series is not relevant to you within the first couple weeks, stop it for now. You can always pick it up later.

10. Communicate with those who offered the 12days gifts. We are all glad to answer questions about our products and services. And we’ve all been in your shoes - at whatever stage you find yourself. Know that we are fellow online business owners and welcome your ideas, comments and suggestions.

May your holidays be joyous and the new year more prosperous for your participation in the 12 Days of Christmas.
