by Glen Barnhardt
List building is not an overnight project. It can take months to get a list the size that will make a profitable business.

It is possible to build a list overnight but the quality of that list will usually be very poor.

You can build lists using fast methods like giveaways but they usually are poor quality lists that are very unresponsive.

There are many ways that you can build a list. You can use Pay-Per-Click, Articles, Forum Posts, Blogging, Squidoo or Facebook and MySpace are all ways to build your list.

Trying to use all theses methods at the same time is a sure way to fail.

Here is the big secret, are you ready? Focus! Yes it’s that simple find one method of traffic generation and stick with it till you master it.

When people come to me and ask why they are having a hard time building there list I ask what methods are you using? They usually reply with several different methods. Then I ask which methods have you mastered? Almost always they will say none.

I guarantee you that if you choose one method and master it you will be able to build a huge list. You will be amazed. Not only that your marketing will have a huge turn around.

Remember focus, if you choose Pay-Per-Click as your traffic method and you get an email on a program that shows you how to build a massive list with co-registration. File it for a later time.

So go now and pick your one traffic method and master it! Watch as you list grows.

Properly Managing An Adwords Campaign

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 4:09 pm

by Kirt Christensen
To run a successful adwords campaign and realize a profit is much more work than most marketers want you to believe. It is not a simple job of taking a word and putting together a little three-line ad and build a campaign around it. (Who hasn’t thought about getting paid big bucks for writing those little bits of copy?) The responsibilities are much more complex than that. You have to watch the bids and how many sales you are getting, keeping the costs and expenses in check, and watch constantly the ads you have working and see if they need changes to keep them working efficiently.

The pivotal point in an Adwords campaign is where the ad shows up as compared to the competing ads that use the same keyword. A search can deliver 100+ of pages of results especially the more popular ones and that is why there is a scramble for the upper positions.

The only way to make a profit is to draw in the greatest possible pool of buyers, and the only way to draw in a large number of potential buyers is to ensure that an ad is in a visible location.

Web surfers have an extremely short attention span, meaning they will only look through the first 5 or maybe 10 pages of search results/ads. This means the most desirable place for an ad is on the first 5 pages.

Because nearly every keyword has at least two ads listed on them the one that is first on the list is going to be the one whose author will pay the greatest amount for a click. (Any keyword that doesn’t have more than one ad is probably so way-out-there that it is not worth bidding on as the chances of getting a click is remote. Who would think of using it?)

Putting bids on keywords can be tricky to do. The marketer has to keep in mind not only how much money the competition is spending per click but the total amount of money they may have in their budget.

A ppc ad campaign that uses general keywords and gets placed in the top spot in the Sponsored Links section is most likely to attract more false leads between good profitable leads.

The ends must justify the means.

If clicking on an ad one hundred times brings you to the limit of your budget then the probability is that you will only get ten sales. Those ten sales need to cover the expenses of your ad campaign and give you a profit also. If it can’t do that then it is not enough.

Careful tracking of the number of successful leads brought in by an ad is important as well.

If an ad is attracting a good amount of traffic but it is not profitable traffic (meaning no sales are made off of it) then the ad should be taken out of the campaign and changes made to either the format of the ad or the keyword list.or maybe both.

In any case, micromanaging is what you want to be doing to make your campaign a profitable venture.

Having over a decade of experience in Google AdWords Management , Kirt Christensen, will share his expertise in PPC management, by giving you tips he found that work (and some that don’t work). http://www.managemypayperclick.com

Link Building - Get More Inbound Links For Your Website

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 3:09 pm

by Trevor John
Link building is maybe one of the least glamorous yet most important things you can do for your website. Without links pointing to your site, it’s unlikely that anyone will ever find you.

So how do you get inbound links?

Most of the time, by asking for them!

Who you ask and how you ask them will make all the difference. You can’t just send out hundreds or thousands of emails asking for a link. Apart from these emails being classed as spam, the chances of an email out of the blue being acted on by another webmaster is close to zero.

One way to get inbound links is to search out the small directories that are lurking everywhere on the internet. They classify websites and give a comment or description of the site. Many of these directory sites will list you for free (or a small fee), although the largest of them, such as Yahoo, will charge quite a lot of money. But then if your site is good enough to be listed in Yahoo, that will be recognized by the search engine spiders and you’ll likely get a boost in your page rankings.

Another way to get inbound links is by writing articles and submitting them to places like Ezine Articles. You’ll get a link back to your website once your article is accepted and as other sites start using the articles you’ve submitted, you’ll get links back from them. You don’t need to have got a top grade in English at school. You just need to be able to talk clearly about your subject - much as if you were explaining it to a friend over a coffee.

You can also get links back to your site when you post in forums. Make your posts good quality and people will be happy to click the link in your signature if it’s relevant to the forums topic.

Websites Designed Search Engines and People

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 3:09 pm

by Gillian Meier
With millions of websites competing on the Internet for top search engine rankings, it should go without saying that website owners should be sure to commission web developers that are SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) smart from the very beginning of the web design project.

Surprisingly, many companies do not realise the significance of having their website developed and design to be read and understood by both search engines and human visitors. Companies get blind-sighted by designers that impress them with flashy presentations, impressive creative’s and clever navigation techniques.

There are many impressive websites entering cypersace daily. An award winning website might be regarded as an accolade for a web designer, however that does not mean that the website is going to be winning the company many rewards unless it is ranked highly in the search results pages. Very often, the only objective that is achieved by these types of websites is that the person or company that designed the website is has unquestionable creative talent. As brilliant as these websites may look, unfortunately many of these are simply doing absolutely nothing for the company. It is surprising how few web designers today are taught the skill of optimising the websites that they design for search engine rankings.

From the start of the web development project, a website owner should commission an experienced search engine optimiser to prepare the website brief for the design company, thereby defining those essential elements that should be incorporated. Without properly configuring the page architecture, and content a website stands very little chance of being positioned anywhere of significance on search engine results pages.

Search engines apply hundreds of variables to their very scientific formula for ranking websites. Thus, website owners, web designers and marketers should take cognisance of the fact that it is simply not good enough to publish a fancy looking website onto the Internet and expect it to start attracting and converting customers in the hope of producing income from their new online presence.

It takes a substantial amount of research, skill and careful planning to create a website that will be recognised by search engines as relevant enough to rank anywhere on the first page of results. This alone does not guarantee that that the websites offers a user experience that satisfies the researcher’s needs and eventually may convert the researcher into a customer.

There is no instant recipe for getting ranked highly on search engines. It is a process that requires a great deal of planning, editing and monitoring in order first climb into the top ranking positions and then to try to remain there. With the algorithms changing at will, there is no one technique ‘cast in stone’ that will guarantee top rankings. If you want to reap the rewards, you need to invest time and effort into properly researching your competitor’s position, and then carefully plan a strategy that will hopefully outrank them, while at the same time attracting niche targeted audiences.

Beware of companies promising to have websites ranked in the top ten results pages within weeks. Although some websites do rank much faster than others, those companies practicing spamming techniques may get websites ranking in a matter of weeks but, in return they can expect to be dropped from the rankings — or even worse, be blacklisted by the search engines within as little as six weeks.

Companies should be careful to approach search engine optimisation from an ethical, spam-free perspective if they want to thrive in this very competitive environment. Until such time that a website ranks highly, there certainly is a place for paid advertising (pay-per-click).

How To Make A Landing Page To Capture Emails

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 3:09 pm

by Trevor John
A landing page, sometimes known as a squeeze page, is a quick and easy way to build up your subscriber list.

The main object of the page is to get your potential client to let you have their email address and give you permission to send them emails relevant to them.

The rules changed recently, so your landing page needs to have a few more elements than it used to. In the “olden days” of 2005 you could get away with a headline, a few bullet pointed “reasons why” and a subscribe button.

Nowadays, you need more elements. The search engines want to think that your landing page is a valuable page in it’s own right. You can use any HTML editor to create a landing page, including the free NVU software if you’re on a tight budget.

So you’ll need to include:

Links to other pages on your site. At the very least you should include a link to your privacy policy and to a contact page. If you can add links to a few relevant articles, all the better.

A free gift to incentivize people to sign up to your email list. Gone are the days when you could just say “sign up for my newsletter” and get subscribers. Offer new subscribers a valuable free report that’s difficult to get elsewhere - get one written on Rentacoder or Elance if you don’t want to do this yourself.

Make some noise! Most tests show that an audio message that starts immediately the page loads will increase your response. Use Audacity to record the message and one of the free or cheap software programs out there to add it to your page.

Add a picture of someone pointing to the sign-up button. Or at the very least, us a big arrow to point. Tests have shown that this can help increase the number of people signing up from your landing page.

Do I Have Options in Pay-Per-Click Programming Besides Google’s?

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 2:09 pm

by Kirt Christensen
Pay-per-click advertising has led the way to a new dimension of growth in inter-net marketing. The facts are that the search engines saw the opportunity to realize profits from internet marketing and they took it. Yes, but what difference does that make?

Think about older advertising styles. The business who you use to distribute your ads either television, printed as in magazines and newspapers, or webpge, charges you a fee and then would display or print your ads and everyone who wanted to would look at your ads.

Then someone started thinking that this type of system wasn’t really fair on the internet; after all, not all advertising venues are created equal. If an ad received a great deal of exposure due to the fact that the website it was posted on brought in a larger number of visitors every day, shouldn’t both parties profit from it?

Raising the fee for advertising wouldn’t really work either, because if extra business didn’t continue, that might hurt the sites reputation.

Therefore, we have the beginnings of pay-per-click advertising.

Ads are written by the marketer, using keywords chosen for their productivity, for a product/service they would like to sell. Then the marketer gives these ads to the search engine.

Every time that a web browser does a search for that specific keyword, the advertisement will be displayed. Every time the advertisement was chosen and an internet browser made the long trip from advertisement to web page the search engine would receive a fee, generally less than a dollar, and both parties would benefit from the deal.

Search engines even carried the process so far as to allow those who were willing to pay a larger amount of money per click for their advertisement (those who “bid” the most on a specific keyword) would have their advertisement placed at the head of the pecking order so that it would be able to receive the greatest visibility and generate more traffic, thereby resulting in both parties turning a greater profit.

If asked to give the name of some pay per click ‘PPC’ advertising tool many folks could come up with Google or Google AdWords; yet Google is only one of many search engines that offer pay-per-click services.

Yahoo!, ABC Search, Search Feed, 7 Search, MIVA, Findology, Microsoft AdCenter and Ask.com, are less well known search engines that have ppc advertising services. With these alternatives to Google Adwords, marketers can test their advertising mettle and reap the profits found them.

Kirt Christensen’s high-energy flair in AdWords Management as he handled over $612,000 of annual ppc advertising for clients, has them raving about him! http://managemypayperclick.com

How To Make Money - Online Business Ideas

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 2:09 pm

by Trevor John
You’ve decided that you want to make money on the internet. What next? Where do you start?

Here’s a list of some of the easier business ideas that will help you earn money online.

Start selling on eBay. A lot of people start this way, often by selling old junk that they no longer have any use for. With so many competitors, you need a product that is either hard to find, such as out of print books, or in such high demand that you can compete with all the other sellers. Before using eBay heavily, read up on the power of headlines - these are the invitation for people to actually click on your ads. Experiment to find a good headline and you’ll notice the difference in bids and traffic.

Advertise on AdWords. Get hold of help before you start unless you’ve got a bottomless wallet. Done right, AdWords can give you a much better return on your money than putting it in a bank. Again, headlines are all important and testing is the name of the game. Even seemingly small differences can have a big effect on your bottom line profits.

Affiliate Marketing. Promoting other people’s products for money is an easy way to put your toe in the water and see whether or not you can make money in a market. If you can make money whilst the affiliate product owner is also taking a cut then it’s time to think about producing your own product and making even more.

Email Marketing. This is still alive and well. Use various techniques to build up a list of prospects and feed them a mixture of information and gentle sales pitches. Get the model right - you may need to experiment to see how much marketing your chosen niche will tolerate.

There are many, many more ways to make money with your online business - keep researching until you find one that you get on with.
